The Somerset Willow Coffin is hand-worked by traditional basket weavers using age-old methods that have changed little over 2000 years. Willow is the ultimate in environmental recycling and is grown in rows of bushes on the Somerset Levels. Once harvested it can generate back to the same height within a year. These coffins are completely bio-degradable and natural. No glues, resins or metal are used in their manufacture. This coffin can be the made in the traditional style or rounded end and either buff willow, which is a dark orange to chestnut-brown, or gold, which is a lighter colour. If you wish naturally dyed bands of colour can be woven in. These are £800, or you can have a coloured coffin (or even a rainbow) for £900. For coffins over 6’2” there will be an extra charge of £40.
